Welcome to Microfinance Monday!

The better nutrition edition… Check out today’s video to learn more about how microfinance dramatically improves the nutrition of families - and meet Norman Borlaug!

Hello Friends!  This rainy weekend can be inconvenient to our outdoor plans, but the rain is obviously critical to our food production and water cycle.  Speaking of agriculture, last week, September 12th, was the fourteen year anniversary of the death of one of the most important people in the world of agriculture.  This man essentially invented modern-day pesticides and fertilizer, and dedicated his life to helping starving farmers who were victims of drought and famine increase their crop production in the developing world.  It is estimated that he saved over one billion people from starvation.  His name s Norman Borlaug, winner of the Presidential Metal of Freedom in 1977 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.  Norman is quoted as saying;   “Food is the moral right of all who are born into this world."

Take a look at today’s video to learn more about the impact of microfinance in the nutritional lives of the people we serve.

“If you give a man a fish, he eats for a day.  If you teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

If you teach a woman to fish, everybody eats!"
